Sign Size vs Viewing Distance
Bigger is not automatically better — but too-small numbers on a long approach are invisible at driving speed.
- Walk the approach from the street at the speed a driver actually moves
- If you cannot read the number comfortably, step up letter height before you change fonts
- Horizontal plaques and vertical post signs need different layouts for the same digit height
Many municipal guidelines publish minimum address number heights. Check your city or county rules before ordering, especially for rental and HOA properties.
